BOMproof

Pilot Check before release

Find the errors in your design before the workshop does.

Upload your STEP model, drawings and bill of materials (BOM). BOMproof puts them side by side, checks the model and turns every deviation into a comment in 3D and on your drawing. You decide what needs to happen.

No account needed, your file stays on your own computer. Would you rather first see how it works and what it delivers?

01 The challenge

Why does manual release go wrong so often?

The more complex the design, the more likely a single wrong BOM line only shows up in production.

  • A1

    Checks by gut feeling

Reviews rely on Excel checklists and on who happens to look that day. Mistakes in materials, tolerances or naming slip through.

  • A2

    BOMs that don't add up

Differences between model, drawing and ERP only surface at purchasing or in the workshop, where they cost the most.

  • A3

    Release as a bottleneck

Engineers retype data into PDM and ERP and chase signatures instead of designing. Who approved what is hard to trace later.

02 How it works

From STEP upload to reviewed report.

No new CAD package, no migration. BOMproof works with the exports you already make: STEP, PDF and Excel.

  1. 01

    Upload

Create a project and drag in your STEP model, PDF drawings and Excel BOM. BOMproof reads the product structure from the model right away.

  2. 02

    Check

One click starts the check. Model, BOM and drawing are reviewed at the same time and every deviation gets a substantiated comment. Expect a few minutes.

  3. 03

    Review

Every comment appears as a pin in the 3D model and as a balloon on the drawing. You tick off what has been handled and download or print the drawing with comments.

What does a mistake cost that only shows up at the FAT? A wrong part on the BOM: found at the pre-FAT or caught at release. Look at the worked example and calculate it with your own numbers. How it works and what it delivers

03 Platform

One workspace for model, drawing and BOM.

All files of an assembly together, in the browser, without a CAD licence. Release to PDM and ERP is on the roadmap.

Quality check

A design review of the 3D model: duplicate and loose parts, the same geometry under different names and missing materials. Plus title block, revisions and materials on the drawing against the model.

BOM analysis

The BOM from Excel and from the drawing, line by line against the product structure of the model: deviating quantities, missing and extra parts, including indented BOMs.

Comments right where they belong

Every comment as a pin in the 3D model and as a balloon on the drawing. Tick them off in the checklist, download or print with comments.

Viewers in the browser

3D model, drawings, BOM and product structure side by side per assembly. Even large designs simply open in the browser.

Traceable

Every comment shows where it came from: which part, which BOM line, which drawing. Every check is kept, so you can later see what was found and ticked off.

04 Checkpoints

What does BOMproof check in a STEP model?

For every design BOMproof checks the same points: every part, every BOM line and every drawing. No sampling.

A

3D model

Design errors you do not see in the tree and only notice on the shop floor.

  • Parts placed twice in exactly the same spot, including whole subassemblies
  • Parts that touch nothing, with the gap in mm
  • The same geometry under different names
  • Missing or default materials, such as Default (Generic is ignored)
  • Standard parts whose size does not match the name (indicative)
  • Sheet metal that can be formed: bend radius against thickness (DIN 6935), holes out of the bend zone, flange long enough
  • Fits in the model (H7/k6 and the like), no clamping without a fit specification
  • Bolt holes that match the bolt (ISO 273), with edge distance and a head you can reach (VDI 2230)
  • Coating and hot-dip galvanising accounted for: threads masked, layer thickness in the fit
B

Bill of materials

The BOM from Excel and from the drawing, line by line against the product structure of the model.

  • Quantities per position against the quantity in the model
  • Lines that do not occur in the model
  • Parts in the model that are not on the BOM
  • Indented BOMs: number of times the parent assembly
  • Formula errors such as #REF! in the Excel
  • DN, PN and thread type complete per fitting (flange standard, R or NPT included)
  • Make or buy correct per line: own part with drawing, purchased part with supplier and type
  • Standard parts fully described with standard, size, class and finish, no bare M12
C

Drawing

Title block, revisions and materials on the drawing against the model and the other drawings.

  • Drawing number, revision, title and date against file name and model
  • Revision table and notes: contradictions and typos
  • Materials on the drawing against the materials in the model
  • Main dimensions against the dimensions of the model
  • Contradictions between multiple drawings
  • Welds fully indicated (ISO 2553) with WPS number in the flag, no seam without paperwork
  • NDT requirements concrete per weld group: method, extent and class (EN ISO 5817)
  • Tightening torques and thread locker on the drawing or assembly sheet, no dry bolt without a torque

Proposal: determine whether three or four bolts are needed and adjust the BOM or the model accordingly.

BOMproof does the counting. You do the deciding.

Quantities, positions and dimensions come straight from your files, using plain calculation code: 4 is 4. The AI does what comes after: working out which BOM line belongs to which part, estimating what a deviation means and writing out the comment.

Every comment names the part and the source, so you can check it in a few clicks. What happens with it is up to you.

05 Principles

Built for teams that cannot afford mistakes in production.

  • Human in the loop

BOMproof does the detective work, the engineer makes the decision. The report is a proposal: you review and tick off.

  • Substantiated

Every finding names the part and the source, and points to the spot in the model and on the drawing. No black box.

  • Your IP stays yours

CAD data is business-critical. Access, storage and model use are designed from day one for sensitive engineering data.

  • Fits your chain

Works with the exports you already make: STEP, PDF and Excel. No migration, no new modelling package.

06 Security and GDPR

Your CAD data is your business. This is how we protect it.

Models and drawings are years of work. That is why they are stored in the EU, encrypted and separated per company, and nobody uses them to train AI.

  • Storage in the EU
  • AES-256
  • HTTPS
  • GDPR
  • Dutch company
  • No training on your data
  • Stored in the EU

Models, drawings and BOMs are kept in storage that may only be located within the European Union. Project data and reports are at Google Cloud in Europe, and the checks run in Belgium.

  • Encrypted, in transit and at rest

Everything travels over an encrypted connection (HTTPS). Stored files and data are encrypted with AES-256.

  • Separated per company

For every file and every report the server checks again who you are and whether you are a member of the company. Administrators and users each have their own rights. Other companies see nothing of your projects.

  • Not used for training

Your engineering data does not train AI models, neither ours nor those of the providers we work with. The CAD file itself never goes to the language model, only the extracted data a check needs.

  • You decide, everything recorded

A report is a proposal; an engineer ticks things off. Every check is kept as its own version, with the steps the check took. That way you can later see what a comment was based on.

  • Delete whenever you want

A deleted file can be restored for 30 days; if you want it gone immediately, delete it permanently from the trash. After your subscription ends we delete your engineering data within 30 days.

07 Frequently asked questions

How does it work, and what happens to my data?

Your question not listed? We are happy to think along about your release process.

01 Which files can I upload?

Per assembly a STEP model (AP214 or AP242, the standard export of almost every CAD package), one or more PDF drawings and an Excel BOM (.xlsx). Other formats such as Parasolid, JT and IGES and integrations with CAD and PDM packages are on the roadmap; we develop those together with our customers.

02 How does a check work?

BOMproof first reads your files: the product structure and geometry from the STEP, the text and BOM from the drawings and the rows from the Excel. Then the model, BOM and drawing are reviewed at the same time, each by its own AI specialist. Finally every comment is pinpointed in the 3D model and on the drawing. Expect a few minutes; a little longer for large designs.

03 Does the AI make release decisions on its own?

No. BOMproof writes a report and that is a proposal. You review every finding and tick off what has been handled. Integrations with PDM and ERP are on the roadmap, and there too: nothing goes through until you approve it.

04 Can I trust what the AI finds?

You do not have to trust it blindly. Quantities, positions and dimensions come straight from your files, using ordinary calculation code. The AI links BOM lines to parts and judges what a deviation means. Every comment names the part and the source, so you can check it in a few clicks. And the report stays a proposal: you decide.

05 How do you handle confidential CAD data?

Engineering data is intellectual property. Your files are stored encrypted in the EU, in a protected environment that only the members of your company can open. For a check only the extracted data goes to the AI model (structure, text and BOM lines), not the CAD file itself. We are happy to explain in a conversation how that works for your situation; see also our privacy policy.

06 Do I have to install anything?

No. BOMproof works in the browser. You do not need a CAD licence to view the model, the drawings and the BOM; you simply export the STEP from your own CAD package.

07 Can I join a pilot?

Yes. We work with a limited number of engineering teams that run a pilot with their own designs. Request a demo via the contact page and we will see together whether it fits.
